About "The Vic"

The Club is so named as it was formed in 1924 as a social facility for the workers at The Victoria Mills wallpaper factory approximately 1/2 mile away.  The houses lining either side of Victoria Avenue were also constructed for the mill workers of the time.

Victoria Mill changed hands in terms of ownership several times, before its eventual closure. The site remains under development to this day as a sizeable new housing estate.

The Social Club was purchased at that time to continue serving the local community across a wide range of social and sporting aspects, and in 2023 was voted among the top 4 social clubs in England.

Our aim is to provide a welcoming, fun, relaxed and clean environment for members and guests of all ages. Well behaved children and dogs are welcome and we offer some of the best value drinks for miles around - not just some of the time, but all of the time!

Televised sport is at the heart of what we offer,  with 5 large screen TVs and a projector for the biggest of occasions. With the Olympics and European Nations football this summer, the club really will be the place to be.

Please note that we do not serve food on a regular basis at the club. Guests are welcome to bring food with them or order takeaways,  giving you the best of all worlds - food of your choice, the best value drinks, and an incredible atmosphere.

Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult,  and we ask that their behaviour does not impact the experience of other guests using the facilities.
